What a *dreadful* ad! It's so naff and jokey. That would actually put me off buying a fragrance. I've never seen such an unsophisticated ad for a usually classy company. Dear oh dear.

It is going to be interesting to see what people think — I agree w/ “naff and jokey” but thought that was kind of fun & tongue in cheek — reminds me of a vintage Old Spice commercial or something.

Well yeah, I guess many people will love it. I suppose it's just a personal thing with me. If I see a “jokey” campaign for a fragfrance, I just lose a lot of interest in it. I prefer the classy, sophisticated compaigns. Having said that, if I adore the smell, it wouldn't really put me off buying it.

Well it isn't what you'd expect from Guerlain, is it? But then, I didn't think the Hilary Swank Insolence ads were what I'd have expected from Guerlain either, and those were just dumb, not even funny. So I see this as an improvement, LOL…

Haven't smelled the scent yet either.

whoa! I think having seen your “making the video”, I was expecting something a bit more…something? not so hokey?

but hey! all that REALLY matter it how the stuff smells, no?

Agree! Thought they were going for something sexier, less funny.

I agree with everyone! What a shocker! I didn't know whether to laugh at that comic moment but my first thought was one of disgust and revulsion – I mean, come on: drinking from the local watering hole? And I don't mean the bar.

I agree – my first thought (beyond the silliness of it all – leopards and gazelles drinking together. O-tay!) was 'ewww' –

plus, he doesn't look animalic – he just looks stupid. And wet.

And not in a good way:-)

I laughed! It helped that I'd already seen the “making of” video, of course, but still — I think it's funny.

Now see, I'm always complaining about how all the men in the ads aren't sexy, but I find this one sexy. Ya'll can keep Jude Law & James Franco & Justin Timberlake & Josh Hartnett, I'll take this Renne whatshisname.

I rather like the ad..I think I am alone with this. He is gorgeous, by the way.

Robin & Kim, do not grieve, as you are not alone… It made me laugh! And I do think he is gorgeous, I wish you'd see more of him in the film. But as a Guerlain fan I understand the criticism. I've never seen anything as silly for such a top brand. It's quite well done, considering how hard it is to simulate a tropical forest in a studio – but still it looks so much like it's shot indoors!
I just hope the (“mojito”-)scent is better than I expect.

God, what a silly ad. The way they skim over the animals and shoot back to Renne? It's like a spoof of itself.
I'm pretty sure I won't like the fragrance anyway, but this would really tip the scales if I were on the fence about it.

    Stupid mixed metaphors!

Well, I always say that as a Guerlain fan, what I want most of all is for Guerlain to stay viable. If Guerlain Homme turns out to be crap (and of course, it might not!) and it sells, perhaps that finances the continued production of Apres L'Ondee. So…a little humor is ok by me, I prefer it to the absurd Barbie doll advertising for Insolence (although the more recent Hilary Swank ads are better).

Yes, a spoof of itself, agree! Still think it's great fun.

but ewww…..just imagine his breath! He's been drinking watering hole water! do you know what they DO in those watering holes?:-)

Better get some Scope, just in case!LOL!!!

See I didn't even notice the leopards and gazelles drinking together! My mind was too busy going omgwtfeww lol

Yep, and that animal Renne has permission to grab the back of my neck between his teeth ANY ol' time. Grrrrwwwlll.

Agree with the others that it's a stupid ad. “For the animal in you” *lol* I thought these days were over that men had to reveal their animalistic inner self. Whta is meant with it anyways? Their sex drive?

HA, I saw the “making of” video — he's drinking out of a clean basin ;-)

Like it. There are cats and that's enough for me:) I'd like anything, if it contains a cat.

I liked it too! But then I like silly things.
I'm actually more inclined to laugh when I see a really “serious” fragrance commercial, trying to convince viewers that a spritz of J'Adore will transform them into Charlize Theron.

    LOL — exactly!
