Masaki Matshushima Aqua Mat Homme, Masaki SUu ~ new fragrances

Masaki Matsushima Aqua Mat Homme cologneMasaki Matsushima has launched two new fragrances, one for men, one for women.

Aqua Mat Homme (shown) is “Freshness, energy and well-being …”:

The head note of “Aqua mat homme” opens with a splash of fresh lime and Boongon (pomelo) mixed with herbal notes from fig leaves and bamboo shoots.

Little by little the fine aroma from magnolias and redwood, the key ingredients of “Masaki’s spirit,” develop into their full glory. Sandalwood and musk provide the base with a strong and crysal clear woody note.

Masaki Matsushima Aqua mat Homme is available in 80 ml Eau de Toilette and in matching grooming products.

Masaki Matsushima Masaki SUu for Women is ” Breath, joy……… Escape”:

SUu preludes with a veritable explosion of juicy fruits (Nashi, and Boongon Carambole) which provides an alacritous opening in the top notes.

The heart note seduces with its delicate compositions of finely spun, very feminine nuances of star jasmine and lotus flowers.

The fond conveys, with its impeccable blend of white cedar wood and crystal musk, an infinite feeling of carefree joie de vivre.

Masaki Matsushima Masaki SUu is available in 80 ml Eau de Parfum and in matching body products. Both fragrances are available now at First in Fragrance in Germany.

I am definitely going to check them out. I love Masaki's spirits and the endless burst of energy in his fragrances. I am happy to see something new coming up from Matsushima! As a huge fan of my mintea I am definitely going to try these.

The men's box with the cup picture makes it look like mouthwash. That'll be a fun mental image to dislodge if I ever get to smell this.
The text of the women's, on the other hand, reads like someone Babelfished it from something else.

    LOL!! You're right.

I'd love to know what those fruits are, too – have any of us eaten/seen/smelled one?

Nashi is pear, Boongon is pomelo which is similar to grapefruit, Carambole is starfruit.

You've smelled it? Or just sounds like?

Yes, I've smelled it. It's in stores here in Prague for a good 3 months.

It seems to me that Japanese perfumers try all the time to produce a better L'Eau par Kenzo.

It's not a bad fragrance if you like fresh aquatics, and popular with the 19 – 25 age group as I've noticed. The type that would appreciate Yohji Yamamoto.

i got a sample the other day, when first applied, i thought it's a women's fragrance, the opening was quite a punch of synthetic acidulous fruit, thought it horrible. then it slowly settled into a fairly pleasant salty aquatic and more in the 'homme' direction, with a hint of mint, a bit like mojito to me :)
in any event, i would definitely call it unisex

    Thanks!!

My jury is out. I can't remember how I feel about Mat scents although I know I have been intrigued before. Some of the arty ones I get inclined to force myself to like, like Parfums Isabell a while back.

Hmmm…that could be an interesting poll…

I don't know what it is but Masaki makes those fragrances so terribly fresh, but really nice, not cheap smelling that I can't get enough of them. The cherry one smells like a bowl full of real (not the synthetic, sickly sweet, largely used in perfumery now kind) cherries. Just a little bit sweet, somehow tart, very refreshing and tasty. My favorite mintea smells like a fresh, yummi cup of green-mint tea with a slice of lemon on the side. I am truly getting excited about those two!
