Paco Rabanne 1 Million ~ new fragrance

Paco Rabanne 1 Million cologne for menComing this August from Paco Rabanne: 1 Million, a new fragrance for men “blending sensuality and freshness” and symbolizing “the first number in a new way of thinking”.

1 Million was inspired by Rabanne’s metallic fashions, and in particular a 1967 dress worn by singer Françoise Hardy. The fragrance was developed by perfumers Christophe Raynaud, Olivier Pescheux and Michel Girard, and features notes of  fragrance include grapefruit, mint, blood orange, rose, cinnamon, spice notes, blond leather, white woods, amber and patchouli. The bottle is modelled after a gold ingot.

Paco Rabanne 1 Million will be available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette and in matching grooming products. (via osmoz, parisplanetfashion.fr, elwatan, fashions-addict)

Other recent launches from Paco Rabanne: Ultrared.

One of this year's most anticipated launches for me. Want.That.Bottle… So.Bad. :) The juice sounds interesting, too – spicy rose? Yum.

Note to self: do brush up on your adverbs before you embarass yourself.

    So.Badly. :)

    Ehem, embarrass yourself.

    Ok, I'll shut up now.

LOL — you're allowed bad grammar, bad spelling, almost anything in the comments, after all, they can't be edited which is hardly your fault.

Anyway, I'm interested to try this one too, but as I've said I still haven't even seen Ultrared anywhere, so don't know where I'll find this one unless it will be more widely distributed in the US? And maybe it will, it looks like a bigger launch effort.

Of course it's not my fault, it's that darn gorgeous bottle that kept distracting me :-)

I suppose 1 Million is going to be a major launch for PB. After all, AFAIK, they've done nothing but put out flankers since Ultraviolet, which came out some ten years ago (?), including XS Black although that one was different enough from the original to stand alone.

I'll be surprised if Ultrared doesn't show up stateside at some point, guessing fall weather will be more suited to the launch. If it doesn't, however, I'll be happy to procure samples for you :-)

And I haven't forgotten about Trussardi either, hehe.

It does seem like some time since they've done a major launch. I don't think Black XS Pour Femme has even launched “officially” in the US as yet, which is too bad, I thought it was well done.

Will ask at Macys about Ultrared, maybe I'm just missing it?

Yes, you can get it online but I'm after an “in person” tester :-)

Great bottle, great concept. It looks like one of the notes, that wasn't list above, it's a metal. I think is coppery.

Ah, and one of the best ads of the year. I hope that the juice doesn't disappoint me.

SOUNDS SO EXCITING!!!!!!! Love a Mens Fragrance with ROSE In It! just makes me tingle in all me special areas! :-) All the other essences sounds olfactorally delicious as well! ADORE PAMPLEMOUSSE, and Blood orange hasn't been really used well since Donna Karan's Original “DKNY” for men. Amber, Patchouli, Blonde Leather, SENSUOUS! CAN”T WAIT for it to hit the States!

I saw that in one article, but the others didn't mention it so wasn't sure if it was right or not. There ought to be something metallic, no?

Interesting packaging. I can't help but think of Comme Des Garcon's 888. In fact, minus the fruity notes, they even sound similar. Is “Gold” the new “Incense”?

I need to get me some of this!. I actually like both xs black and xs black femme. Even the original xs's are great.

Good point. A rash of metallic fragrances would be fine with me!

Anyone know the name of the model?

Nathaniel Goldberg!! IMO 1 of the best Photographers around. Great Shoot as usual…

One thing's for sure: they always do great, original bottles. And gourmand scents…Hmmm. If the rose/metal thing doesn't mean something generic as Cacharel's Amour PH it could be good. Some leather is good too!

I can't wait for this one.

I love rose fragrances for men. One of my recent discoveries which I have worn a great deal of late is Taylor of Old Bond Street's Luxury Sandalwood Cologne, it combines rose and sandalwood to perfection. Absolutely beautiful fragrance. Anyway I digress…

The bottle is going to look magnificent in my collection too. I do so wish more manufacturers put more imagination into their bottles. I mourn the loss of Coriolan's wonderful powder horn design!

I shall be buying this one when it comes out…

I just looked upt the three colaborators and realised: all the 3 of them worked for Yves Rocher… They've all done quite some mainstream but also original stuff. Pescheux's Arpège pH to me is one of the most intriguing (and sweet!) creations of the last years, and Girard's Noir pH for St Dupont is very nice, too. I'm quite curious, although I don't wear any PR (I did briefly flirt with Ultraviolet Man the 1973 pH). I wonder if that cigarette lighter is meant to be worn at a chain around your neck…

They're all very good perfumers, yes, they've done lots of mainstream work but also original, I'd agree. Looking forward to this one, if I ever see it…

Guerlain's (Acqua Allegoria) Mentafollia (discontinued) is even more minty than Herba Fresca. I love mint as well (fresh green mint, not menthol mint). Mantafollia is my favourite AA.

this fragrance is great!!!!! I was unaware that it wasnt released in America yet. I was glad that I purchased it this weekend in paris.

I loved XS black(which I can't find at anystore in america). I bought it in Japan. Now I have this which I bought in Paris, from the Paco Rabanne store on the Champs Elysées. Hopefully it will be availible here, so when I run out I can replace it….as with XS Black..I had to get somemore off line

Paco Rabanne does not have good distribution in the US, unfortunately, although you can always find them (eventually) at the discounters. Glad to hear it's worth smelling.

I smelled it today and it's *exactly* like another fragrance, but I can't recall which. It's *killing* me!!!

I think I've realised which fragrance it smells so much like. It's Gaultier2! Is there rose in that one too? It isn't *exactly* like it, but it's very similar…to my nose anyway. I wonder if anyone else will agree.

  38. Anonymous
    Posted on 11 September 2008

It's true. It also reminded me of Gaultier Puissance 2. I thought it was more gourmand though. They both have this “plasticiser” note, which I love – reminds me of my childhood. E.g. the He-Man figures my brother used to have as a kid, the “Masters of the Universe”, they smelled like this when they were new. I'm not joking!

  39. Anonymous

PR1M is more gourmand, I meant.

    Posted on 11 September 2008

Hehe. I do know what you mean alright! They do have a faint “plastic” smell to them alright!

It's out it's out! Here in Sydney – at Bondi Junction. The bottle disappoints slightly in real life but what really crushed me was the juice :( I really wanted to like it! But it smells awful on me – all I get is a blast of mint and some sort of spice; everything else is drowned out by the screeching mint. So sad :( ((

  44. Anonymous
    Posted on 16 October 2008

Too bad! I don't think we'll get it here for awhile yet, if at all.

I'm currently in Paris and I tried it today at Sephora.

The bottle looks a bit tacky to me. But then again I like glass bottles and some people like new stuff, so I won't dwell. But the scent is unusually floral and feminine to be a guy's scent. It is like a watered down COCO by Chanel with all its 80's glory! And it lingers…I had to wash it off my wrist.

I could see this fragarnce marketed for a man by a “niche” perfumer, but hardly by Paco Rabanne which is mass distribution (at least in Europe)

I honestly don't think it will do well across the pond. Definitely more a feminine fragrance!

Interesting, thanks! I wonder if they will distribute it here. I don't think they distributed the last 2 PR scents here, or if they did, not very widely.
