My mom got me Blooming Bouquet for my birthday. It's quite lovely really.It has a sort of faint citrusy lemony smell which I can't say for sure what it really is but the major letdown was the lasting power.

I was so disappointed when I went out for a date hoping to smell great but unfortunately, the smell went faint as soon as half an hour. I am dead serious. Half an hour is crazy. What a letdown.

I found MDC to be far too sweet and cloying in all its current incarnations, so hopefully this new “Asian-friendly” version will be more appealing.

The MAC fragrances are pretty good for the price, although so far I've only really liked one of them and can't remember if it is MAC 2 or MAC 3. Agree on the coconut tiare, it is very popular the last few years.

Don't know what is really “Asian friendly” I thought it was something along the lines of Yohji Yamamoto, something like a light floral aquatic air freshener.

But the other day I saw this young Asian woman come up the SA in Parfumerie Douglas with a bottle of Moon Sparkle in her hand and ask “Excuse me, I need something sweeter than this, can you advise me?” Jaws dropping all around

Now regarding MAC, am not so familiar with the line as they just opened a boutique nearby and they have makeup only and more then I'll ever use, but I know this much. Hope it's not just me noticing, but after the Success of Azuree Soleil there is a lot of this coconut-tiare-cedarwood combination in summer fragrances and body products.

These “Asian friendly” renditions are mostly for the mainland Chinese market, an emerging market with a huge potential. More and more cash rich mainland Chinese are switching to Western style consumerism, and many companies are tweaking their products to better comply with their tastes. In case of perfumes, this means lighter, inoffensive fragrances.

It isn't getting a general release, so most people here will never even know about it. Chandler Burr has written some interesting articles about scent in Asia if you do a search at the New York Times.
