This is a huge loss. What a genius he was.

So sad. But he will be remembered, he left so much beauty in this world.

Cannot believe he's gone. A visionary genius. It's a huge loss, what a legend !

While I salivated over his fashions, alas, I couldn't afford couture..I did, however, indulge in many of his great fragrances. In high school: Rive Gauche, in college Opium, later Paris. Now I adore Kouros!
Today I fly to France, by the way, and who knows what potions I'll bring back. (Any suggestions?)
Au Revoir Yves, au revoir perfumistas! Bonjour France!

If it were me, I'd be at Annick Goutal smelling the new musk, plus I'd try to smell the new Dior Portofino. And I'd bring home Diorissimo in extrait, or a bell jar of Iris Silver Mist from Serge Lutens.

    Have fun!

    Oh you enabler, you, lol!

I did sample the new Musc Nomade. It's beautifully done, but I have to say that it smells “almost” like my Snuggle fabric softener. :( :(

    Hugs, babe!

A national, no international, fashion treasure! I was shocked and saddened to hear of his death. I have loved almost all of YSL's fragrances over the years. I will never forget when Opium debuted and the frenzy it caused. Everybody wanted it!

I love YSL's fashions. What an innovator! What a master talent!

I had one of his Mondrian dresses. Too stupid to have kept it, alas. But it was fantabulous – I felt so chic!

Oh thank you, thank you — that lemming is now quieted! And hugs back :-)

How sad for his family, friends and everyone who loved his work. I always thought he had a unique and strident perspective on fashion; the fashion world will feel the loss of his rare intuition.
