I bought a small bottle of Azzarro Chrome almost entirely because it smells "German" or "European" to me. It either reminds of a scent that Germans I have known wore at one time, or maybe I smelt it on a bunch of German/European tourists several summers ago when it was a big hit. Chrome may not have been particularly popular in Germany for all I know, but it is an association (a good one -- I love Germany!) that I have in my mind. I would generalize and say that I often am able to smell perfume/colognes on German and other European visitors in my town -- especially young men -- more than I do on Americans.
