Fragrance gifts for Mother’s Day 2008, part 2

You’ve about 2 more weeks to come up with a Mother’s Day present…

Bond No 9 Swarovski Stars Bon Bons

More sparkle from Bond no. 9: the Swarovski Stars Bon Bons, four 6 ml purse sprays in their Bryant Park, Bleecker Street, Nuits de Noho and Eau de New York fragrances. $700 at Bond no. 9.

L'Artisan Mure et Musc trio

Cute X 3: the L’Artisan Mure et Musc trio, with two 15 ml bottles of the Mure et Musc Eau de Toilette and one 15 ml bottle of Mure et Musc Extreme. $82 at Luckyscent.

Kenzo Amour Body Cream
Perfect for layering: the Kenzo Amour Pure Fragrance Body Cream. “A luxurious indulgence to envelop the body in KENZOAMOUR’s woody, musky, floral notes. A voluptuous texture, at once soft and firm, delightful and sensual on the skin.” At Nordstrom, $65 for a 5 oz jar.

Space NK Incense set
If only it came with peace and quiet: the Space NK Incense set, in the “Behind Closed Doors” fragrance (sandalwood, cedar and vetyver with overtones of lavender, heather and moss). Packaged in a set of 60 sticks with incense holder, $40 at Space NK.

Stella parfum

I’ll take one: Stella McCartney’s lovely Stella fragrance, in Extrait de Parfum. 7.5 ml, in a presentation box. $110 at Sephora.

Oh, they're all so pretty! I am not a mummy and I don't have a mummy any longer (doesn't it drive you nuts when adults talk about their 'mummies' and 'daddies' and 'aunties' and 'nanas' and whatever?) so I won't be the recipient of any of those cute things, nor do I have a reason for acquiring them. :-(

I'm a magpie: I like glittery things. The Bon Bons would be my choice.

I have the Kenzo Amour cream; love it. I also use the shower gel on my son as a shampoo – smells wonderful!

Bella, I'm sorry to hear about your Mum. I lost mine 3 years ago. Mother's Day is bittersweet.

The Bond Swarovski bonbons are outrageously high priced!

At first thought the last gift was Flowerbomb instead of Stella.

The very best gift to my own heart: Fresh Flowers by Mother Nature.

J, I am a mother and have a mother, but neither I nor my mother is likely to get those Bon Bons at that price ;-)

Well, they are luxury items, what can I say. The scents themselves are not nearly so expensive if you buy them w/o the Swarovski.

Bartamy, I adore the packaging on that cream, and sorry to hear about your mother as well.

That's not on, is it? *By right* you should be entitled to them, in either capacity. What is the point of being a mother or having one if you can't get those Bon Bons? None whatsoever. I think she should protest – very strongly.

Oops, meant 'you should protest', of course.

Thank you, Bartamy. I'm sorry you lost yours too. Mine died almost 16 years ago, but it feels like yesterday sometimes. (Actually, past a certain age, *everything* feels like yesterday.)

LOL — I've no idea what the point of being a mother is, but I can promise you that protesting will not help — those Bon Bons are not going to be mine :-)

No, they're not for me either… I'd invest in a gorgeous vintage coat before I dropped $700 on perfume.

Actually, I *would* spend $700 on fragrance if I had $700 to spend on myself, so ridiculously obsessed am I!

But alas, I will not not be receiving fragrance from my husband for mother's Day— he already thinks I have way too much & doesn't understand that too much is never enough.

My sweet daughter, however, usually tries to make me fragrance, & last year's was an 'edible' scent comprised of lemons, limes, & sugar!

Doesn't sound too bad actually! Kind of an interesting take on the traditional gourmand – more useful :)

Bartamy, $700 is a week at the beach for me…I can do an awful lot with $700 :-)
