See, a couple of hours is sometimes good enough for me. It is the scents that are dull by the end of the first 90 minutes that make me mad.

Looking forward to trying these, thanks again!

Yeah, you've just about got a couple of hours worth. Perfume junkie that I am I've been having little top up squirts all afternoon. And - since I'm off to the gym after work - will take advantage of the lemony zing to give me some added 'oomph' on the treadmill ;-)

It's quite a curious mix because - to my nose - the citrus stays true but at the same time this undertone of incense develops and somehow they seem to work together.

It's an interesting purchase. I might squirt some on my unsuspecting boyfriend and see what it smells like on him...

I still feel guilty about buying it. But only a very little bit.

Ooooh, not only a description, but a good long one -- many thanks! It sounds very tempting despite your "fun but not necessarily full bottle worthy". I don't mind if it doesn't last all day, but would you say it stays at least "interesting" for a couple hours?

Well, my CdesG arrived this morning – not bad since I only ordered it from Colette Monday afternoon. After struggling for what seemed like hours through parcel tape and bubble wrap with shaky, overexcited fingers I finally opened up the shiny, little white box and then squirted…
A momentary burst of gin and tonic and then… LEMONS! LEMONS LEMONS LEMONS!!!! For the first few mins I feel like I’ve thrown myself bodily into a vat of fizzing homemade lemonade. My brain feels like I’ve just drunk a big mug of coffee. This would be a perfect perfume hit on a gorgeous, bright summer’s morning when, for some reason, you can’t quite shake off last night’s sleepiness but you really need to get yourself together for work.
After a few mins the lemon starts to smell slightly creamy – more lemon meringue pie than lemonade. After about 10 mins I can start to smell the spicier notes coming through and the incense only seems to increase over the next hour or so. Unfortunately, as it’s an eau de toilette, I’m already having to stick my nose in my wrist to really pick up on the smell. However, what’s left is something quite soft, creamy and spicy.
I’m feeling a bit guilty about having such an impulse moment as – if I’d sniffed it first – I’d have probably filed under ‘fun – but not necessarily one to buy’. As it is, I’ll enjoy this on a hot summer’s day and I’d like to try the other two and see how they compare. I went for the lemon as it’s a smell I adore and I was intrigued to see how they’d mix it up with the incense. I think this scent would only improve when worn on sun-warmed skin – and would smell really quite lovely on the neck of your favourite man as you nuzzle up to his crisp cotton t-shirt, sitting on the sea shore watching the sun go down at the end of a perfect summer’s day…

Sequoia really is a huge hunk of wood -- I love it but can see why someone might not! Do try layering it with some florals before you give it away though -- it's perfect for layering, I think. And agree wholeheartedly on CdG 2!

Promise. Am like a kid waiting for Christmas now. Come on and send it to me Goddamnit! I realised the other day that - like some women hide shoes and clothes purchases from their partners, I tend to keep v.quiet about how much I spend on perfume to mine. I've totted up this month's expenditure and realised it's the best part of £100!

With regard to CdesG - I *still* haven't smelled the incense series, from what I remember 'Red - Carnation' is lovely. I've still got a bottle of 'Red - Sequoia' knocking around somewhere. Not quite sure what possessed me to buy it as it's far FAR too woody for me - any takers out there? It's most of a bottle and still smells good (am too lazy to ebay).

My favourite to date has been CdesG No.2 - love the bottle, love the scent - unlike anything I'd ever smelled before - makes me think of suede for some reason...

Sorry to keep monopolizing this thread. Love the JM Lime, Basil, Mandarin and am wearing it today actually! I wouldn't mind a full bottle. Curious as to how you'd like her Grapefruit. I may just pre-order this CdG Grapefruit unsniffed around May 1 (payday - haha!).

I can't remember the JM Grapefruit -- don't like the Lime Basil Mandarin and think that put me off the JM citrus. Should try it again. Yes, options are good!

Colette is an AWFUL place to try fragrances - crowded, noisy, and poorly laid out. The poor Le Labo display is crammed into a tiny corner next to the staircase.. I ended up not even testing the fragrances because I was so disturbed by the atmosphere. I'm so glad I was later able to smell them in peace at Barney's. My favorite CdG is the incense series too, not a huge fan of citrus although it can be pleasant at times. I rather liked the new Monocle Hinoki - started off very medicinal but dried down quickly to a very pleasant dry incensey smell.
