A few years ago I bought a fragrance diffuser for my car. It came with blotter paper inserts that you soak with essential oils. You place those inside the diffuser and plug it into your car's cigarette lighter. As it warms up, the scent fills the car (more than it would without the heat). It works well with perfume oils, but I have never tried regular perfume.

I haven't used it in a while but your comments have prompted me to pull it out of retirement!

I wish my car smelled like Starbucks, but like many mommy cars it smells like McD's french fries...and if it smelled like Chevrefeuille, I'd be happy but my son would probably refuse to get in the car.

Still, keep meaning to try some of the MPG auto freshener scents, although I never see them anywhere.

Howzabout scent-em-yourself car air fresheners -- you know, the kind you hang from the rear-view mirror? They're usually tacky and tree-shaped and ugly and smell absolutely horrible. But imagine a cute yellow sixties daisy-shaped one dangling from your car mirror, wafting, oh, say, Chevrefeuille and magically eliminating the lingering smell of last month's accidentally-dumped Starbuck's venti latte!!!

Good advice but can't make myself sleep in them! I do try to put gold studs on during the day when I remember...but I don't remember much :-)

So, this week I learned about scented earrings and (from Australia) scented socks (as mentioned at Basenotes). What's next?

The year is not naturally pierced so when you remove the earring it will try to heal and fill in the hole. It gets progressively smaller until it fills out.

If you wish to go back to wearing earrings, you need to wear a pair of small gold or platinum earrings, the lightest you have, without taking them out, for at least a month or until your ears stop hurting. It will hurt a bit, but gold and platinum are the least reactive to the skin and if on top of that the design is light and simple and doesn't catch in sweaters, you would have minimized your problem.

Save any earrings that are heavy or made of other materials than gold or platinum, and certainly anything with scent on it, for later. Good luck!
