Annick Goutal Musc Nomade (Les Orientalistes) ~ new fragrance

Annick Goutal Musc Nomade fragranceAnnick Goutal has launched Musc Nomade, the fourth fragrance in the unisex Les Orientalistes collection (see Ambre Fétiche, Myrrhe Ardente and Encens Flamboyant).

Musc Nomade was developed by perfumer Isabelle Doyen in collaboration with Camille Goutal, and is described as “a fragrance that whispers on the skin, a sensual, chiaroscuro scent”. The notes include white musks (muscone, angelica, ambrette), tonka bean with almond accents, labdanum, and Bombay wood (a papyrus derivative).

Annick Goutal Musc Nomade is available in 100 ml Eau de parfum, €120. The first three Les Orientalistes are not expected to officially launch in the US until this coming fall, so I wouldn't expect we'll see Musc Nomade here any time soon. I think my perfume ennui is totally over, because EVERYTHING sounds intersting all of a sudden. This, I must sniff.

Ooohhhhh….there is absolutely nothing in those notes that I don't adore. I can feel myself walking towards this with zombie arms. Goutal boutique…please get open FAST!

Wholeheartedly agree with Marina that this sounds wonderful. White musks can be done rather sloppily, ending up harsh and high-pitched, but since this is AG, I'm hoping for the best.

M, really? I'm just the opposite — everything sounds like “just one more of the 1000 for 2008″ to me, LOL…but this sounds worth smelling.

The papyrus is all that is keeping this in my “would like to smell” list…not a big fan of straightforward musk, and while I like the others in the set, I'm not WILD about any of them.

LOL at the zombie arms…will you order unsniffed before the day is out?

i love anything that is a softer, gentler, musk skin-scent. will be sure to beg the SAs for a sample of this one.

Alas no, Unsniffed usually results in Unworn for me.

    Same here, sadly.

Will be surprised if this is a soft skin-scent, but we'll see — and I'll be begging the SAs myself ;-)

“Zombie arms” sounds like one of those phrases that is destined for repeated use on NST as shorthand.

Yes to ZOMBIE ARMS terminology/imagery! Good for irresistable stagger toward product, it also serves up appendage real estate for testing.

Don't all the AG's “whisper on the skin”….?!! If they're admitting this now, will we even be able to smell it??

I will still run to smell this, though. Love the cologne style bottle.

LOLOL at *zombie arms*!! It's how I envision myself on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, staggering toward the Chanel boutique, muttering, “Must. Smell. Sycamore.”

I've been on a musk fragrance kick for months now, and this AG is definitely on the list to sample, if I do happen to make it to Chicago in the coming months. :)

This one sounds so good. There is an Annick Goutal shop right next my appt. …another challenge to my willpower.

Over a 100 € is well beyond my budget.

Yet I loved Eau d'Hadrien… for me it's right up there with the best Lutens citrus frags… And this sounds so tempting…

Mmmmm… the exchange rate kills me! :-)

Are you going to get a sample of this, R? The other three have not moved me, but this one sounds divine! Thank you for the list of notes.
    Hugs!

P.S.–Could this be the year of musk? Musc Nomade, Cruel Gardenia with its soft musk, and the new Le Labo LA exclusive is going to be built around musk. I may be missing something, but can't think straight right now.

    Anyway, just a thought…

Do they? Gosh, I don't think of the line that way.

I don't think this one will get here until late in the year, maybe even 2009. You'll have to keep your zombie performance for Chanel ;-)

R, I'm sure I'll get a sample eventually, but not in any massive hurry. Haven't even smelled Cruel Gardenia yet, ack!

That Indult for Colette in Paris was musk too — C16 I think it was called?

hey! on the subject of Annick Goutal, I just wanted to announce I saw a ton of AG scents on clearance at Filene's: I bought a 100mL of Eau d'Hadrien edp for $50 (but the sprayer was broken – still no great loss, I decanted it into an older bottle)! It's taking all my strength not to go back and pick up a Mandragore, or an E.d'H. in the men's edt bottle (I prefer that design to the women's bottles)

Waaah — I keep reading about that at MUA, and I don't have a Filenes! Please, go back and get the Mandragore, I can't stand to see it left there, LOL..

can i just say that i am appalled that the closest filenes to me is in illinois. I LIVE IN CALIFORNIA! we need one. badly.

    Posted on 11 April 2008

I have to say that the Filenes I visit in DC every so often doesn't really have a fabulous selection of scents, and they aren't marked down nearly as much as they would be at TJ Maxx or Marshalls….still, sorry to miss all these $50 AGs!

please if you allow me i suggest for goutal perfumes the following for man :

    SABLES Nr. 1

A special jury of Dutch glossy lifestyle magazine FHM announced Sables as the number one fragrance for men. One of the female testers sighed: “Divine! Every man should be obliged to wear this. Or maybe not… I'd might not be able to control myself!…” (in: FHM FASHION, august 2002)

Also EAU d `HADRIEN,EAU DU SUD, and MANDRAGORE.

    regards

Of course, we allow (almost) anything. I do not love Sables personally, but I know many people do. I'll take the Sud & Mandragore :-)

I did smell Musc Nomade today. It seemed a bit ''strong smelling'' at first, but like all AG's frangrances, it faded fast, left a nice warm smell of, well, MUSK on my skin. Delicious.

Sables is the best (and hard to find around here in Montreal) I need to get that one (first on my 'to buy list') second favorite is Mandragore, it's my boyfriend's fragrance.
