Annick Goutal introduced Vanille Exquise in 2004. The fragrance was developed by perfumer Isabelle Doyen, and includes notes of vanilla, angelica, almond, benzoin, gaiac wood and white musk.
Back in 2004, the news that Annick Goutal would launch an almond-vanilla perfume created something of a frenzy on the fragrance board at MakeupAlley, where the Annick Goutal line is held in great esteem and where there are a considerable number of hardcore vanilla-gourmand fans. When Vanille Exquise finally launched, there was an almost palpable sense of disappointment, and many of those who ordered bottles unsniffed put them up for swap in short order. Mind you, anyone who frequents a fragrance forum can tell you that this period of let down follows any much-hyped release (it is happening now over the Chanel Les Exclusifs).
Vanille Exquise disappointed, I think, precisely because it wasn’t the gourmand many were hoping for…

Pierre Cardin will launch a summer variation on 2004's Revelation fragrance this March, Revelation Energy for men. The notes include tangerine, green apple, violet, may bloom, rose, sandalwood, teak, amber and musk.
Pierre Cardin Revelation Energy is a limited edition Eau de Toilette, and will be in 30 and 50 ml, Shower Gel & Deodorant. (via cosmoty.de)

Running late! Again! Reviews coming later in the week: Annick Goutal Vanille Exquise & Juozas Statkevicius Eau de Parfum. Also coming soon, a "Perfumista Tip" post on how to decant perfume, and any day now, that "100 Fragrances Every Perfumista Should Try" that I promised at the beginning of January, and that I never seem to finish. Every time I delete one perfume, I add two more.

Desperate to get in the papers? Want Gucci to foot the bill? A Swiss man...
...conned one of the country's biggest media companies into publishing a two-page ad he created of himself posing semi-naked beside a bottle of Gucci perfume.
The man, who claimed to represent the Italian fashion giant, called up the Swiss weekly SonntagsZeitung last week to book the expensive color spread in Sunday's edition, a spokesman for the paper said.
Christoph Zimmer told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the man asked for the 60,000-Swiss-franc (about $50,000) bill to be sent to Gucci.
