Jean Paul Gaultier will launch the 2007 limited editions of Le Mâle and Classique for Valentine's Day at the end of this month. This year, the fragrance bottles are inspired by the Francois Gerard painting Psyche Receiving The First Kiss From Cupid (1798).
The fragrances come in 100 ml Eau de Toilette, packaged with two 3.5 ml miniatures (one each of Classique and Le Mâle).

I have always hated the decapitated and amputated human-like body of the bottle – and the fragrance is very mediocre as well.
It would be horrible to receive or give this bottle on Valentines day – its anything but romantic !
I agree they may not seem romantic, but I've always had a sneaky affection for the bottles! I see them as being like the things they hang clothes on in shop windows, so the lack of limbs and head makes some sense. And I think they missed a trick with the gender assignation – I feel just a bit uncomfortable holding the female version, but get a furtive thrill from the bloke torso! I think they would have sold me Classique if it had come hunk-shaped…
You're not the only person who's said that: a male friend said he could never own the Le Male bottle because it would be too weird. But honestly, wouldn't the reverse be even weirder? Spraying a very female, rose-scented fragrance from a bottle shaped like a man's torso? It's sort of a no-win situation, I guess. (I love both bottles, though.)
The men's bottle, I think, is very new, but the women's is really just a variant of the old Shocking Schiaparelli (Mae West) and Madeleine Vionnet (dressmaker's dummy) bottles.
Weighing in rather late…but I can see both sides — there is something a little creepy about the headless torsos, on the other hand, at least they aren't dull, and so many perfume bottles are!
