Clive Owen new spokesperson for Lancome

Lancôme has announced that British actor Clive Owen will be the new spokesperson for its male fragrance and skincare lines:

Mysteriously hypnotic and resolutely masculine, Clive Owen was definitely the perfect choice to embody Lancôme’s new fragrance for men Hypnôse Homme and new anti-aging skin care range Lancôme Men.

Look for the ad campaigns, both television and print, this spring. (via press release from Lancome, picture via cosmeticnews)

Update: more information on Hypnose Homme can be found here.

    He sings to me !

    I don't even LIKE young men !

    I'm so ashamed…

    Robin, please help me….

LOL!! He is pretty darn good looking in that picture. Oddly enough, I can't remember him in any of the movies he was supposedly in, so I guess he isn't my type or something (?)

Hey, watch how you define “not that young”, LOL!!!

Good choice, Lancome, good choice! And you, the producers of Bond movies…you are morons. :-)

M, was he in the running for Bond? I missed the Daniel Craig movie in the theatres and now have to wait for it to get to Netflix, so don't know yet what I think of him.

You're right about James Bond! This boy's out of the same top drawer as Daniel Craig but probably better as he's minus the pout.

I suppose Lancome have hired him as a sexual image – interestingly in today's UK Guardian there's an article on aphrodisiacs that make it seem they would have been more successful with a scratch'n sniff. Apparently it's smell not sight that is the great aphrodisiac.

Some of your crazy guys at the Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago (!) have been measuring blood flow to various human genitalia while wafting smells under their guinea pigs' noses (probably poor students and so not representative – I'm hoping…).

They found that doughnuts and licorice really work for men (blood flow up 32%) but for the women it's liquorice and cucumber (13%)! How disappointing…..what about, for instance, Tubereuse Criminelle? Or Bandit? Not a cucumber or liquorice allsorts in sight!

Swoon. Can't even verbalize how much I love this man. He was brilliant in the British series Second Sight. And, I agree w/ M. – the Bond people are morons. Complete morons.

    “Croupier” is a must-see!

I'm looking forward to seeing more of these ads. ;)

    R
Have you not seen Children of Men, or the Spike Lee bank heist movie (name?)? Brilliant in both.

No! You have all got to go rent “Closer” tonight! He's so good in that, in fact there is a quote in that movie that me and all my friends say” Thanks for playing, now f*ck off and die”! He says that to Julia Roberts…! Brilliant!

My recollection (perhaps faulty) was that the Bond folks DID want him, but he turned it down either because he was doing something else or because he didn't want to be typecast as “the Bond guy.” Totally agree that he's much closer to my idea of what Bond looks like than Daniel Craig.
I'm hoping Lancome poses him naked, like M7 dude. What are the chances? A girl can dream…

Ooh, R! Dang that man is hot! What a great actor.

I have seen almost all of his movies. It's just a matter of time before he receives all of the acting accolades that he so richly deserves. You have got to see him in that Spike Lee movie with Denzel and in Children of Men.

    Hugs!

Something must be wrong with me. I don't get Clive Owen at all.

But…I haven't seen him in any films. (Closer looked so awful to me that I think it may have prejudiced me against poor Clive.)

Now where's the ad featuring Jack Black? ;) Hee, yes, I have weird tastes.

That one is already in my Netflix queue, so I'll see it eventually (although my queue is optimistically long considering how I only watch about one movie a week, LOL)

It is just a married woman's nightmare of a movie! And a married man's for that matter. Anyone who has ever been part of a relationship, that movie just makes you ache. And I couldn't count how many times the C*NT word was dropped…in fact I read that Natilie Portman bought Julia a gold-platted nameplate necklace with that word on it, and presented it to her upon their first rehearsal. After the movie rapped Julia gave her one that said

C*NT 2! I hope Hazel and Finn never find that necklace, she'll have lots of explaining to do!

I think it's an extraordinary bit of news – the smell of cucumber? an aphrodisiac? That's why I'm hoping they experimented on students (might explain the strange attraction to doughnuts?) and that the results are completely unrepresentative…..

I'm wearing Un Jardin sur le Nil and suddenly wondering – is there cucumber in this? Perhaps that's why the postwoman gave me such a gorgeous smile!

I found “Closer” unwatchable, but he was excellent in “Inside Man,” “Croupier,” and the 'Second Sight' series.

    Bond. Indeed.

Now, what line will Robson Green be the new spokesman for? :) Talk about eyes….whoowhee!

Love Jardin Sur Le Nil, cucumber or no!

After my mini rant regarding the latest Prada ads, I was way thrilled to read that Lancome has tapped Mr. Owen to be their newest spokesmodel. Very smart move by Lancome, as he's an actor that appeals to both men & women.

Inside Man is worth checking out; some very wicked twists and great touches of humour. And do rent King Arthur — it was drubbed by reviewers but was a wonderful re-imaging of Arthurian legend.

OMG! Hypnose for men? That sounds awesome! ANd I love the look of the bottle. From the pic, it looks like it might be even cooler than the women's bottle.

Clive Owen is yummy, that is all.

If anyone is interested in checking out a much younger (and unclothed) Clive, rent a British flick called “Close My Eyes”. Very weird story about sibling incest. Worth it to ogle Clive though!

I love the idea of Jack Black being a fragrance spokesman!

Er, who *is* this man? This is not the Clive Owen I know and dislike. This is a heavily computerized version of Clive Owen. A practically unrecognizable one. He really does *not* look like that.

Btw, does *everyone* have to fill in all their details before being able to post a comment, or is it just me? Shouldn't blogharbor remember me from one time to the next? It would be nice. :-)

J, I'm sure he has been photoshopped!

I log in once in the morning from the right sidebar, but the details are already there. I think they aren't there in the article itself if I forget to log in from the sidebar. Then I'm logged in for the rest of the day.

And how! He's got quite thick features and they've made him look so 'refined'. LOL!

But, R, you're the boss of this blog: you would be able to log in easily. I'm asked for my username, password and URL every single time I want to post a comment. I was wondering if it was the case for everyone else (except you).

J, I don't comment any differently from anyone else though (in other words, I don't comment via a control panel — just by pulling up the blog like you would).

If you accept cookies, log in on the sidebar (not in an article) and check the “remember me” button, your info should always be there (although not your URL). Actually don't know what happens to anyone else???
