Le Labo Aldehyde 44, Hampton Sun Privet Bloom ~ new fragrances

Le Labo fragrancesLe Labo has launched a second city-specific fragrance. Aldehyde 44 is exclusive to the Le Labo boutique in Barneys Dallas, and follows Tubereuse 40, which was exclusive to New York City.

Aldehyde 44 was created by perfumer Yann Vasnier and is described as a “hard core aldehyde” with a “very edgy / clean white floral result”. The notes include tuberose absolute, narcissus absolute, jasmin sambac, musks and woods. (via Le Labo)

The sunscreen company Hampton Sun will launch their first fragrance in March. Privet Bloom will feature notes of lemon verbena, bergamot, white hyacinth petals, sea grass and cucumber. (via Women’s Wear Daily)

Hampton Sun Privet Bloom perfumeUpdate: Privet Bloom was inspired by “the beautiful beaches of Eastern Long Island”:

Named after the privet hedges synonymous with the Hamptons, Privet Bloom features the breathtaking aroma of privet hedges in bloom wrapped in a bouquet of delicate muguet, jasmine, linden blossom, gardenia, orangeflower and dune rose on a backdrop of driftwood and sun-warmed musk. The result is a delicate scent that captures the purity and elegance of summers in the Hamptons.

Privet Bloom is available in 50 ml Eau de Toilette or 50 ml Eau de Parfum, and can be purchased online at hamptonsuncare. (via press release from Hampton Sun)

Looking forward to trying it too, although it isn't something I'd buy unsniffed. Even if I could, and since they're not selling it online, I can't ;-)

I got a snootful of the Aldehyde 44 at the Dallas Barney's a few weeks ago and I'm madly in love. The idiot SA (I'm sorry, I know that's harsh, but she was an IDIOT — ask delsfan) told us we couldn't have samples of the EdT, but she did give us nice healthy samps of the lotion, which I am hoarding and crying over like Gollum. It is indeed hard-core aldehydes — super bright and sparkling, and it stayed bright, without ever going very powdery. I really love this stuff, but the prices are obscene. Seriously so high it makes me want to boycott the company:

    lotion 110.00

    oil 110.00

    1.7 fume 230.00

    3.4 360.00

    Balm 160.00

    soy candle 65.00

If it turns out my tax refund this year is about twice as much as I expect, maybe I'll purchase some. Otherwise, I think it will have to just live in my dreams. It is fantastic, though.

The NY-specific scent, Tubereuse 40, is really expensive too, but right now I can't find my notes so can't remember how much OR how much the “regular” scents cost. The only comment I have is that it can't be cost-effective to do these scents and then only sell them on such a tiny scale…a niche within a niche. But sounds like all I can afford is the candle!

Anyway, it sounds lovely and worth trying, so I'll have to get my hands on some.

I have actually had the pleasure of smelling this divine fragrance. As a lover of fine fragrance, I can honestly say that there is absolutely nothing else, sold in today’s market, that resembles it!!! Privet Bloom feels feminine, fresh, clean and crisp in a subtle and sexy way. I LOVE THIS FRAGRANCE!!!!! It is in a category all by itself.
