Kenzo Tokyo cologne for men

Kenzo will introduce a new fragrance, Tokyo by Kenzo, this September. The “modern, colorful urban” scent geared to 18-25 year old men was created by perfumer Marie Salamagne and includes notes of ginger, grapefruit, mate, green tea, pink pepper, orange, cedar, cloves and nutmeg. (via cosmeticnews)

Kenzo Tokyo fragrance bottleUpdate: Kenzo Tokyo was inspired by the colorful nights in the Japanese metropolis: black buildings (nutmeg, clove, gaiac wood, cedar), red lights (bitter orange, pink pepper), green trees (green tea, mate, shiso), yellow lamps (lemon, grapefruit, ginger).

Tokyo by Kenzo will be available in 30, 50 and 100 ml. (via fashionmag.fr)

Update: see a review of Tokyo by Kenzo.

I guess the wave of the future will be age-specific aisles at perfume shops? From Baby thru Senior — a scent for everyone. If you're over 25 and dare wear Tokyo does it mean you are young at heart or trying desperately to relive extreme youth? I'm curious…do 18-25 yr old men buy lots of cologne? I'd love to see an “age” breakdown of sales to men….K

LOL! I think the specificity here is because Kenzo apparently doesn't sell enough fragrance to younger consumers.

I don't know how things go with the men, but since every single perfume brand on earth is jumping over themselves to sell to women 13-21 (and lots of them say 18-25 but when you smell it, you *know* they're reaching way younger) and basically ignoring women over the age of 25, I can only assume it is the lucrative way to do business.

I'm turning 30 this July. Dang! Coz I really liked the sound of Tokyo.

Is the bottle a play on the name, like a grenade is a lighter more sparkling version of bomb? Because that's what the bottle looks like, maybe I pull a fuzzy black ball instead of a ring to take the pin out.

You guys are a tough crowd today ;-)

This one looks way less grenade-ish than the regular EdP bottle, which has fewer facets. They did apparently remove it from duty free shops in Oslo last year for that reason.

I'm really happy to hear about this new Kenzo fragrance. I love Kenzo, and I love the sound of this one!

I love kenzo fragrances, though form me, the first kenzo for men is a bit like opium on women on some… my chemistry does not turn it into magic.

I love L'eau par kenzo, it smells of the fizziness of coca cola without the caramel.

This one sounds promising, but as I just turned 34 last sunday…I will probably start lying about my age.

Like the Nanny (Fran Drescher) said once….”I know what I am talking about… I have been 19..TWICE!!!”

You are a hoot, R! You know, I shouldn't have tried Kenzo Flower Oriental, having close to no money to buy clothes that I need, let alone to spend on yet another perfume. But KFO *is* gorgeous and I am just about relieved that it shares the same feel as my beloved M7.

Hate to think you'll go shoeless because of it, but KFO is such a great scent, and so underappreciated. Am going to be sorry to see it disappear.

I tried it today. I was really exctied when I saw the bottle in Sephora. It was just like sitting there, chilling. Like no major promotion or anything.

I was a little underwhelmed. It reminded me of a calmer version of Lucky Brand's Lucky #6 for men. It was like… oriental, kind of, but not terrible interesting. Maybe I'll give it another try some time.

I still need to try it, but so far, haven't heard anything great about it…too bad, love the advertising.
