Maybe, R., but not necessarily. Maybe my reaction was more emotional than anything, and not to be counted on. I just know I love it. I have found that it's not the longest-wearing scent — I'd say PF's Querelle, for example, has much better staying power — but it's good for 3 hours of decent complexity.

I have just purchased Bois Blond after that kind of first sniff that brings tears of emotional recognition and the joy of experiencing profound art. It is just an exquisitely balanced fragrance and so inexpressibly. . .attractive, I suppose, is the word, although that doesn't really do it justice. I can't get enough; I find myself inhaling deeply with a huge smile on my face! It evokes a time and place — late summer, countryside — and it's hauntingly beautiful. I found it here in Vancouver at The Perfume Shoppe.

I don't know much. I think his father had some sort of industrial chemical business, and as far as I know, he is self-taught. Aromascope did an interview with PG some time back which you can find on her site. As far as I know, there is no relationship to the former Parfumerie Generale store.

I don't love all the fragrances by any means, but I do think some of them are very interesting, and perhaps that is partially because he is “outside the industry” so to speak. As I've mentioned recently, sometimes I am nearly desperate to smell something that doesn't smell like everything else on the market. But like many of these niche brands, I think they release too much product too quickly.

Hello Robin,

You all seem to love Parfumerie Générale.

But can you tell me who is exactly Pierre Guillaume and his Parfumerie Générale ? I must say I really don't know.

Though he's French, I think there is no place yet in France except the web site where the fragrances are sold (according to the web site).

What's more, P.G. seems to be in Clermont Ferrand, rather far from Paris (sth like the Montana state compared to NYC for you).

However, I remind that Parfumerie Générale was a niche perfume & beauty store near the Champs Elysées, created by Victoire de Taillac (she formerly worked for Colette boutique), but the place closed 2 years ago… I think there is no relationship between the store and the brand. Can you tell me more?

Maybe to see how well they will sell to see if they should add them to the permanent collection? I'm hoping… especially if that bois blond turns out to be a stunner. I'll cheerfully got all Jack Bauer on them to make sure it keeps being made if it is the perfect hay/grass… oh, stop me, I'm swooning again.
