Fleur de Cabotine & Ambre de Cabochard: new fragrances from Gres

Gres Fleur de Cabotine perfumeGrès will launch two feminine fragrances next spring, both created by perfumers Jean Claude Delville and Jean-Pierre Béthouart:

Fleur de Cabotine…is described as a refreshing, feminine floral. The top notes include syringa flower and mandarin; the heart lily, orchid, peony and cactus blossom. The base is a blend of nectarine, heliotrope and musk.

Also new is Ambre de Cabochard, inspired by the original chypre scent Cabochard, introduced in 1959…As its name suggests, amber is a key ingredient within the fragrance heart, complemented by top notes of berries, fruits and spices, atop a base of Tonka bean, vanilla and musk. (via moodiereport)

Update: descriptions from the Grès website:

Fleur de Cabotine ~ “The marvelously refreshing fragrance opens on a vibrantly fruity top note, delicately followed by an exotic heart note with a white-lily base. Spicy and sensual essences ensure the elegant finale.” Additional notes include reseda.

Ambre de Cabochard ~ “Sophisticated accents infuse traditional values with a new, modern spirit. Amber is at the heart of Ambre de Cabochard, the new oriental perfume by Parfums Grès, placing it within the current trend for richer fragrances.” The notes include cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, huckleberry, blackberry, mandarin, tuberose, cyclamen, lily of the valley, amber, patchouli, tonka bean, vanilla and musk.

In the words of my puerile self- poopy, poopy, poopy !

    What next, dear lord?

Let's muck up all that's holy and beautiful, why don't we ?

What is so terrible about perfection?

    End of rant.

Oooh, I hope the Ambre de Cabochard really *is* more like the old Cabochard. The current Cabochard is a gutless knockoff, which I've resented ever since getting a bottle of the vintage. As for Cabotine, the original is so mild and inoffensive that I have no feeling one way or the other about any variation thereof.

I'm not even sure where Gres is sold any more. Somehow, doubtful that this will be a return to the glory days of Cabochard, but who knows?
