Hi Jessa! The movie was an ambitious project indeed. Kudos to the producers (and the director) for their audacity!

Hi, I'm jessa from Singapore.

PERFUME is just released here. I agree with your review, but overall, I commend the effort to translate this literature into a motion picture. =)

And yes, the collection of 15 scents is truly a unqiue adventure for the senses...I think each of the scent is brilliantly crafted and I truely enjoyed them.

I'm not sure if you've already mentioned this:

Theirry Mugler is releasing a fragrance coffet of fifteen scents, each based on a scene from the book "Perfume: The story of a Muderer" by Patrick Suskind. Vogue reports:

"...fifteen provocative scents (the smell of newborn baby, the aroma of 18th century Paris)..."

I could see them getting 18th century Paris right--what, with all the heady florals, potpurri spices and urea...but, baby? Will it be an imitation or idea of one? The whole thing will cost $700.00 US and available on Theirry Mugler's site. Interesting concept...even if Theirry Mugler's idea of an "Angel" is an overspiced, incense-smoked, candied apple.

Thanks Katie! I really wonder how the movie will do at the overseas box offices. In Germany, one million people saw the movie in its first four days of release (equalling about half the share of all movie revenues). It had a record-breaking opening in Austria and Switzerland as well. I don't think it will raise a stampede in other countries, but it will be a nice alternative to the forthcoming James Bond movie.

Awesome review, and so very funny! Thanks for the fun read, M :)
I'm such a Tykwer fan, so even the drawbacks of the inattentive or sloppy details aren't going to dissuade me from seeing the film. Will keep in mind though to try to not giggle at the orgy scene, though, heh!
