Yes, it is expensive. The Silver Rain is available at a few discounters (so I would assume Midnight Rain will be eventually too), but even then, it isn't a bargain.

Heavy & sweet rarely suits me but I'll give it a try!

I honestly don't know. When they originally released SR, there were also 2 limited editions (Silver Spice & Silver Sensuality) and I thought those were going to be coming out as part of the regular line. This Midnight Rain was thus a suprise to me, and I haven't read much about it.

I tried this at Bloomies last night. It is heavy & sweet, as folks say but like an excellent confection, you keep coming back for more. My 9 year old LOVED this on me & kept following me around. Too bad it's so expensive, it won't be a purchase for me…too similar to Hanae Mori, which I already own.

The bottle is indeed lovely. But quite expensive.. Like the rest of La Prairie products

Now is Midnight Rain supposed to be a heavier version of Silver Rain? I am assuming this because I recently found Lolita Lempicka's Midnight and that one is a little “darker” that the original.

Hi R! I tried Midnight Rain at my Saks last week. The bottle is darling, and the fragrance is very pretty! =)
