Went searching for this fragrance when Vesper Lynd, James Bond’s love interest in “Casino Royale”, kept of bottle of this on her during their romantic and fatal trip to Venice. Was disappointed – just too much powder and not enough fruit. Not intriguing enough for a second try. Now, SMN’s “Honeysuckle” is pure joy – it evokes soft, fragrant summer nights in the country, moonlit and crammed with moths, fireflies, and romance…

No, I really don’t, but this one stuck out — interesting scent that did not remind me of pomegranates in the least. Never did decide if I liked it or not.

I’m afraid Marlen no longer writes here so he won’t be along to answer you…personally I don’t remember incense (just soapy powder) in Melograno, but it’s been years since I smelled it!

Everyone seems puzzled by my mention of Habit Rouge. What I meant was that considering the time period, Melograno seems to me more in the style of Habit Rouge than say Eau Sauvage for instance. HR and Melograno both share a somewhat powdery-leathery basenote …

Hi Marlen! Great review. Melograno was my first SMN

ever when I visited the SMN boutique in Florence over 16 years ago.

Cannot see any similarity with Habit Rouge though (which has been a staple for my DH for years). Must resniff this again.

Interesting. I love Habit Rouge despite the fact that Tony Blair wears it. I've been resisting a visit to the London SMN store but I feel I can't resist much longer.
