L'Eau Bleue d'Issey Eau Fraiche has in common with the original L'Eau Bleue some elements like a subtle aromatic camphoraceous note of rosemary. The floral heart, I would say, is more imaginary, but also more silky. The patchouli note, rather strong is the original, is here more 'crystalline'. It melts quite skillfully with a musky-ambrox base. In some way, it reminds me fragrances like Rykiel Homme, Bulgari pour Homme or Paul Smith for Men. It's comfortable and elegant, fresh and subtle.

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking. The article promised–promised!–that we were nearing the end of the cycle of all-alike fresh-outdoorsy scents and moving into some warmer men's scents, and all I see and smell is calone everywhere. I'm so sick of it! I tried three new scents this evening–Instinct by David Beckham, Guess Man, and Nautica Blue–and they're ALL THE SAME.

I love the original L'eau Bleue D'Issey – fantastically original scent for men – but it certainly had its detractors! I'm almost positive this will be a more mainstream fragrance, but I hope they've maintained the character of the original. Have you smelled it, R?

Reading about all this watery stuff send chills down my spine. Where are all the *warm* scents they promised in that recent article? Hrmph.
