Fifi Awards for 2006

The Fragrance Foundation has announced the winners of this year's Fifi Awards. The award ceremony was held last night at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. And the winners are:

Nouveau Niche

Women's: Narciso Rodriguez for her Eau de Parfum
Men's: Giorgio Armani Armani Privé Ambre Soie/Bois d’Encens/Eau de Jade/Pierre de Lune

Luxe

Women's: Calvin Klein Euphoria
Men's: Giorgio Armani Armani Code (formerly Black Code)

Interior Scent of the Year

Latitudes International for Apothia candles

    Well, meh. I already posted on BdJ. Their categories are peculiar. And who says Prive is for “men?” And we clearly have different ideas about what constitutes “luxe.”

    I was very surprised by the winners myself. And yes, luxe isn't used the way we would use it at all.

    I was so surprised at the win by Euphoria, but then I spoke to an SA at the local Kaufmanns. She told me that ever since it was launched, it was the top selling perfume in her store.

    I'm not sure if sales have anything to do with wins, but it did sort of satisfy my curiosity!
