Van Cleef & Arpels First Love, Marc Jacobs Splash Rain, Grass & Cotton and more new fragrances

Van Cleef & Arpels First Love perfumeVan Cleef & Arpels will launch First Love in April:

The women’s scent is a floral oriental developed by Christophe Raynaud of Symrise. Its formula is composed of a blend of grain of paradise, osmanthus and mandarin at the top, and notes of peony, ylang-ylang and orchid at the heart. Notes of amber crystal and vanilla sap feature in the base.

Van Cleef & Arpels First Love will be available in 60 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette. (via cosmeticnews)

Marc Jacobs Summer Splash bottleMore on the Summer Splash trio from Marc Jacobs, which will be released in 10 oz bottles. Despite the name, the fragrances will come with spray atomizers:

Rain, concocted by IFF's Laurent LeGuernec...opens with top notes of wet cut grass, wild strawberry, clementine zest and dewy cypress. Its heart is of tropical passion flower, sunshine flower and white orchid, and its drydown is of beech amber, tree moss, teak wood and musk.

Grass, with a juice by Annie Buzantian...[has] top notes are of freshly snapped snow peas and lush green accords; its heart is of wildflowers and white muguet, and its drydown is of soft woods and dewy musks.

Cotton, by Carlos Vinals....[has] fresh linen breezes and liquid oxygen mixed with white peach, citrus mandarin, orange and bergamot; its heart comprises the proprietary Marc T Signature Accord, cotton flower, lavandin and lily of the valley, and its drydown is of cotton musk, smooth white suede, rich sandalwood and blond woods.

Tom Ford's next fragrance release for Estee Lauder will be a body oil spray that reinterprets the original Azurée:

That new creation is built around a tiare milk accord that comprises Tahitian gardenia petals mixed with coconut and orange blossoms.

And look for the freestanding Tom Ford collection, including a new fragrance, in the fall. (both above via Women's Wear Daily)

Celine Dion has launched Always Belong: "Uplifting notes of mimosa, fresh violets and crisp amber mingle and dance to create a surprising and captivating fragrance experience." (via celinedion)

Lancôme will launch two new rose fragrances this year: La Collection Mille et Une Rose and Tresor Sheer Rose. (via Women's Wear Daily) I have spoken to a Lancome rep and I am 99% sure that the correct name is not "Mille et Une Rose" but the lovely and currently very hard to get "2000 et Une Rose", especially since the other "La Collection" fragrances have all been reissues...stay tuned! Update: per a reader who was recently in the Lancome Institut in Paris, it will be called "Mille et Une Rose", but is definitely the same fragrance as "2000 et Une Rose". Update 1/07: see a review of Lancome Mille et Une Roses.

Thanks, R! If this is indeed the old 2000 Et Une Rose, we'll all be stockpiling! I'm relying on you to let us know when this will hit the shelves! Thanks again.

2000 Et Une Rose is now my number one lemming. I cannot believe I missed that one originally.

I'm cautiously interested in the Marc Jacobs trio, especially 'Cotton'. For some reason, I'm drawn to fabric-inspired scents – at least to the names – still wish I could develop a love of White Linen, since the name drew me like a black hole. Is the Lancome Rose really as wonderful as everyone says?

A, I figured this would make you happier than anyone! Now I really pray that it is true, or else I'm going to feel so bad I'll have to fly to Paris & get you a bottle…

N, cotton notes sound better in theory (to me, at least) than they smell in real life. Did you like L'Artisan Extrait de Songes?

On the Lancome: yes! It really is lovely — if you like rose. If you don't, I doubt it will appeal to you.

I was in the Lancome Institut boutique 2 weeks ago and the SA assured me that the 2001 Rose fragrance is now called 1001 Rose – it has been renamed, but it is the same scent.

BTW, loved reading about your trip to Paris :-)
