A writer in the San Francisco Chronicle professes some dismay over the fact that there are now two Hummer fragrances:
All of which begs the obvious, painful question: Who, pray, is buying this stuff? And perhaps more importantly, what woman is attracted to it? Who in their right mind looks at Hummer cologne and says, “Whoa, dude, a scent based on a hulking, low-grade, environmentally devastating, gas-sucking, oil-belching, horribly designed vehicle that just screams, 'I don't give a damn about anything or anyone, and, by the way, screw the baby seals too.' That is exactly how I want to smell.” (via San Francisco Chronicle)
Priprioca is a fragrant plant found only in the Brazilian rainforest. It is one of many unusual raw materials now making its way into the fragrance market. Read about it at Cosmetics Design, or smell it in Perfume do Brasil by Natura.
The New York Times has an interesting article about how body sprays are marketed to teenage boys. Basically, wear the spray, get the girl.

I too find Hummers offensive looking. You find some in the UK. What can we expect? Well there are enough Hummer Club members who can wear these two perfumes.
Priprioca sounds like a prim cousin of tapioca!
I kid you not, my kids once got me WWF (yes, that stands for World Wrestling Federation) perfume when they were little. And if I remember it wasn't all that bad, either!
Also, I learned recently that my beloved Douce Amere is a dead ringer for American Idol perfume, at least according to one source (scentdirect maybe?)

Only the other day the DH and I were talking about how wonderful it would be to win the Powerball, and when asked what would be the first thing he would buy, his answer was…Hummer. I always thought that he was a reasonable human being who shied away from show-off-ness of any kind…but no, there is something in that tank-looking monster that calls to the dark depths of the male psyche
And when I said that there were Hummer scents, I saw this sparkle in his eyes…Scary stuff.
N, I see very few Hummers around here, but they are all over the place in the Washington, DC area. I have never seen the fragrances so I have no idea where they are sold!
M, I always tell my dh that winning the Powerball would be a huge mistake. You would be likely to learn all kinds of things about each other (and yourself) that you might be best off not knowing
Ooh, a fragrant ghost haunting the streets of NY…nice. Obviously the ghost is wearing a gourmand scent, a ghost of great taste

I wonder if priprioca is one of the fragrant plants used in the O Boticario line from Brazil. There is an article about that line in the new Allure. The O Boticario line of fragrances uses only flowers, plants and extracts found in the Amazon. I found a website (here in LA, no less!) that carries the line. Check out brazilexplore.com. I may actually call them to see if they have a store I can visit to sniff out the line.

Re: the mysterious scent and M's comment–my first thought was that someone had clearly overturned a huge bottle of AG Sables (my husband calls this “Eau de Log Cabin”).
And I have to admit that I was taken aback when I saw the Hummers in Sephora recently. . .
