As promised, here is the picture of “Chinatown, Crystallized”, a limited edition bottle of the Chinatown fragrance from Bond no. 9 with the plum blossom design studded with Swarovski crystals. It will be available in early December; the price will be $380 for 100 ml.

Gorgeous! I am just glad I am neither a bottle collector nor has a single Bond scent worked for me so far.

LOL — I think this is going to be a big seller.

M, I am not a bottle collector either, but I do love the Chinatown bottle. Personally I think I like it better without the crystals, but I have a feeling I'll be one of the few.

R., which is your favourite Bond no. 9 scent, if you have one? I had high hopes for New Haarlem and it dried to Coty's Route 66 on my skin..arrgh

M, have you tried Chinatown? I really do think it is their best so far, although it doesn't suit me. I am still working my way through the line, but so far Eau de New York is my favorite. Very bold citrus.

I haven't tried Chinatown…must do so since you recommend it. I can't remember whether I tried Eau de or So New York, I thnk the latter. Off to look for samples…

I'm one of those few then, too. There's something charming about the plain print, but with the crystals it's just too much of too much.

I like the non-Swarovski version much better as well.

This may have been brought up before, but I find it hilarious that a perfume is called Chinatown. As someone who is forced to walk through Chinatown almost daily on my way to the subway, I can assure you that it is nothing to draw fragrance inspiration from. Unless one adores the scent of dead chickens hanging on hooks, raw fish in the unbearable humidity, and skinned frogs in buckets full of bloody water. Sorry to get so graphic but that is seriously the smell of the air there in a nutshell.

And I think So New York is one I haven't tried yet. Too many samples, too little time :-)

Agree it is not the best smelling place on earth, although I love Chinatown anyway. Any place that serves dim sum all day is fine with me.

i'm actually thinking of moving from the lower east side to chinatown because it's less gentrified and more interesting…guess i'd better get used to the stench!

Pretty! I love the plum blossoms but still don't find the Bond bottle shape that attractive.

Oh, Robin, you had to do this to me, didn't you! I have calculated that just about the time when this bottle is released, I will need a new supply of Chinatown.

    My wallet is doomed.

Hmmm…it isn't a “pretty shape” but I like that it looks different from everything else, and I do like that they have done so many opaque decorated bottles. I do get bored looking at all my plain glass bottles!

P, sorry! At least it is refillable!

It doesn't work for me either, but I would love to have that bottle too.

It occurs to me that if you have the original bottle you could easily copy the Swarovski design with a hot glue gun and the crystals if your are crafty.
