Tommy Hilfiger True Star Men, Kenneth Cole Signature & more new fragrances

Tommy Hilfiger True Star Men cologneTommy Hilfiger will launch True Star Men in August with an ad campaign featuring Enrique Iglesias. The juice features “top notes of pink grapefruit and wet notes, a heart of orris and juicy black licorice and a drydown of sandalwood, saffron and vanilla.” (via Women’s Wear Daily) Tommy Hilfiger True Star Men is an Eau de Toilette, and is available in 30 and 50 ml.

Kenneth Cole will introduce Kenneth Cole Signature for men in September. The fragrance features “top notes of fresh grapefruit, rare violet, spicy cardamom and fiery pimento berries; a heart of deep marine notes, orris root, water lily and espresso bean, and a drydown of guaiac wood, smoky amber, exotic patchouli and papyrus.” (via Women’s Wear Daily)

Rumors: Frederic Malle is said to be about to release a floral by Dominique Ropion, possibly based on tuberose. Last year there were rumors about a leather scent by Olivia Giacobetti, hopefully that is still to come as well. Update: the first rumor, at least, came true: see a review for Frederic Malle Carnal Flower.

And Olivia Giacobetti fans will be interested to know that she has created a candle for Bottega Veneta. The candle is manufactured by L’Artisan, and is available in L’Artisan & Bottega Veneta boutiques — no idea if it is in the US though. It has notes of smoked tea, a “rain accord”, iris, cut grass, a “chimney accord” and leather. Thanks to Mike for the information! Update: see a review of the BV/L’Artisan candle.

Thanks for these news! The candle sounds like something Olivia Giacobetti would create, doesn't it?

I have seen this mentioned several places now, on English & French forums, so I am hopeful!

Yes, it sounds not too terribly different from the Galliano candle. Hope I can find it here!

re: KC Signature. I need to go fetch myself some coffee and take allegy medicine, because my first thought when I read “rare violet” was, ooooh, rare ones, huh? As opposed to those ordinary, completely pedestrian violets. See? I need coffee.

That candle really does sound nice. I've never sniffed the Galliano candle so I've no basis for comparison, unfortunately. I love that idea of “chimney accord.”

LOL — I was cutting & pasting, didn't even notice rare violet! Exotic patchouli is actually pretty darn silly too.

But do go get a cup of coffee! Going to look for that candle but guessing it is more than I will pay — BV is not a discount brand ;-)
